My Nana moved to the area about 3 years ago. She broke her hip in January and as a result has lost her independence. She has gone from having 1 carer twice a week for a shower to 2 carers 4 times a day and is basically stuck in a chair. She falls regularly and at 1 point was falling at least once a day.
Numerous health professionals including doctors, physio, nurses etc. have visited my Nana and most have made a few sympathetic noises, not really known how to help so have said goodbye.
We had a call from a pharmacist, who I thought would turn up check medicines and be on their way, however this was not the case at all! Teena has now visited my Nana a few times and each time has been amazing. Teena takes the time to talk to Nana so she understands exactly what is going on. I feel she has the right balance of empathy that enables her to be sympathetic but also realistic and her visits are never rushed.
Teena has not only made referrals where necessary but has then followed them up again and again until they are sorted. We have had issues with carers that Teena has helped to sort out. She has kept everyone in the loop and to be honest I think we would've struggled without her help.
It is obvious that Teena genuinely cares and is willing to go the extra mile to help make a difference.
