I had major surgery for rectal cancer at Lincoln County hospital.
I was very nervous before this operation because of the nature of the surgery and the anaesthesia. It also meant that I would have a permanent stoma. However, I can now say wholeheartedly that I am really pleased that I had it done. I am still recovering but I feel much better, plus the surgery removed the tumour and all of the cancer.
The anaesthetists were fantastic and I woke up pain free in ICU. The staff there were second to none and I felt very well cared for. The surgeon has done a tremendous job and I’m really pleased with the results.
The follow up stoma care that I’ve received from the specialist nurses has been excellent and they have given me invaluable support during a difficult time.
If I have one small gripe, it’s the food! It was quite often bland and there weren’t always a lot of healthy choices.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in my care at Lincoln County hospital.
