My 17 year old son was in for a day hernia operation on the 1st May 2019, he was on ward F during the day. As his operation was late in the day he spent the night on ward G. The hospital was lovely, so light and airy, and really clean. Everyone was kind and friendly to my son, especially the male nurse who was on duty at night on ward G, he got us information about hernia operations and gave us advice about after care, and cautionary tales about other people who had had problems after their operation. I was allowed to stay as long as I liked with my son and was even offered a cup of tea, which I thought was really lovely. As he was not expected to stay over, there was a bit of confusion in the morning as to what we needed to do next and what other appointments he would need, we did get conflicting advice, so my one suggestion for improvement would be a better handover of patient information.
