The first incident was when I took my son who is under 16yrs for an appointment at the surgery. After checking in via the self-service at reception we took a seat. We waited 30mins before I went to find out if the self-service station had worked and we were actually checked in. I was informed by a really unhappy receptionist who was not welcoming that they could not speak to me as the appointment was not for me. I got my son from the waiting area who spoke to the receptionist to be told that he was early and his appointment was later than I had been told on the phone. No apologies for this or for our wait. My son was handed a form to fill in so that I could speak to them re his appointments in the future. When we did get in to see someone the person we saw was lovely and apologised for our wait.
The second incident was when I tried to make a follow up appointment as requested within 7-10dys later. When I was given a day that was 14dys later I asked if there was one earlier for my son as due to a vaccination we were advised to return during the timescale given to have the person on the end of the phone huffing and puffing at me, as if I was putting them out by asking. They said that was the earliest they had. No apology or explanation. In between the huffing and puffing at me there was silence, no interaction whatsoever. Now, I would rather book an appointment online rather than to speak to anyone from the reception at this surgery. Face to face or by telephone. If I could avoid the GP surgery I would. I am an NHS employee myself and the treatment I received from the receptionists was terrible.
