Over the last three years, my mum received exceptional care from the PD unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. The care and compassion showed by Joan, Isabella, Dr Gorrie and the whole team allowed her to maintain a quality of life and independence which would not have been possible otherwise. Staff were very accommodating, ensuring that she received home visits when required and were always happy to offer advice and support on the phone. One of the most important factors was that the staff took the time to get to know mum as a person, meaning that she felt very comfortable with them.
Knowing that mum was in such good hands meant that as a family, we felt less worried about her condition, as staff were so thorough and careful in their consideration of her treatment.
Mum sadly passed away a few weeks ago and even then, the staff reached out to the family. The whole family are immensely grateful for the care and support shown by the staff on the unit.
