I would just like to thank Geoff - OPD 6 - of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for his support in his speedy attention to an injury which had been causing me severe pain for at least seven months before I was referred to him. The pain killers which I had been taking, prescribed by the doctors, were making no difference. On my first visit Geoff arranged an MRI scan on my knee the same day he saw me and through this it was discovered I had a torn cartlidge - X-rays had not shown up the problem. Geoff gave me a steroid injection into my knee the following week as I was going on holiday and I went back to see him on my return from holiday. Although a torn cartlidge does not repair itself and I may still have a slight discomfort around the knee area at least I know what the problem is and am aware of what to do and not to do and with the correct exercises, which I have been given by Helen of the NHS, I can tone up the muscles around the knee area. Geoff, thanks once again for your help, compassion, understanding and your pleasant professional manner.
"Thank you for your help and compassion"
