I wanted to share my recent experience of crosshouse (as a parent, not a nurse).
My daughter fell whilst doing handstand. We took her to a/e, she was x-rayed and we were told that she might have a fracture but they weren't sure. Given a sling and an appointment for later in the week. I was quite happy with this, the rest of the story is coming.
She (and mum and dad) hardly slept because she was in so much pain, so I phoned to see if we could get her seen at the paediatric trauma clinic the next morning, we could. Took her to see Dr Moulds who spoke to my daughter, asking her questions and telling her what the x-ray showed. I was very impressed and loved her manner. She explained things well and suggested a cast. My daughter was so much more settled.
I want to say thanks to everyone. I know a broken arm isn't a big deal. I've been a qualified nurse for 22 years (and proud to have been in NHS A&A all that time) but that knowledge goes out the window when it's your own. Thanks for all the care especially on what was a very busy clinic afternoon.
