I wish to express my admiration and thanks for the excellent service my wife received in the Easter Holiday from NHS 24.
My wife (86 years old) who some 5 weeks previously had a TAVI (spent 3 days in Golden Jubilee) followed a week later by by 4 TIAs (and subsequent falls in which she broke her wrist) resulting in a 7 day stay in the stroke ward of QEUH, Glasgow. She was discharge on earlier this month with very poor walking and her wrist in plaster. Two weeks later she noticed a "shingles" type rash. She phoned NHS 24 at 1345 approximately and a medical doctor arrived by 1700 and ensured that the local pharmacy had "acyclovir".As it was a national holiday on that date we were exceptionally relieved to have a medical opinion and action within a short period, I am 90 years of age therefore could not have taken my wife to the out of hours clinic as the pharmacist suggested in the morning. Many thanks
"The excellent service my wife received"
