"I couldn't get an appointment"

About: Homerton University Hospital / Accident and emergency Lower Clapton Group Practice

(as a service user),

I had gout and couldn't get to the phone easily and I'm in a basement where my mobile doesn't work, you can't phone and make an appointment, you have to wait to be phoned back, so if you can't get to the phone then you can't speak to a doctor or make an appointment. It's awful!!

I ended up getting a friend to drive me to A&E (I couldn't walk at all),  where finally one of the GPs got through to me and told me I was wasting A&E time (not a view that the wonderful people at A&E shared).

I couldn't get an appointment, and was  made to feel awful when I was forced  to resort to A&E.

So sorry you've had a difficult time getting an appointment. The idea of having a phone appointment is that it should save you coming in when you don't need to, and saves long waits in the waiting room.

There is the option to send us a message via the Ask My GP system rather than booking a phone slot. You can add more information in a message, such as when it would be convenient for you to be called back and exactly what you need reviewing. We are then able to reply with a message/ phone call.

If you are having difficulty navigating the website please do drop into reception and the team will be happy to show you so that you can use it more easily in the future. Do also let us know which bits have been tricky and we will see if we can change them.

Thanks for your feedback!
