18 months ago I was examined in the claydon annex for pcos and told my chances of falling pregnant naturally were slim. Within 6 months we found that we had fallen pregnant naturally, the pregnancy had a number of complications including gestational diabetes, the staff, midwives and doctors working in the annex were amazing and informative and at no point did I feel rushed or my opinion was not valid. I had my last appointment with them on the 7th March where I was booked in for an induction.
In the early hours of Friday 8th March my waters broke at home. I immediately called the labour ward and followed the advice they gave me and headed in to the hospital as requested. We were greeted by the friendly midwives who talked me through the checks that they needed to complete. Later on that morning I was moved to the labour room. We can not fault our midwives at all and especially one particular midwife who was so knowledgeable, calm and compassionate. Due to complications we found ourselves surrounded by the best medical staff we could have imagined for the safe arrival of our daughter. We then spent 6 days on the Rothschild ward where again I cannot fault the care, compassion, advice and support we were given. Our daughter had jaundice and was kept in on the light and antibiotics at every point we knew what tests were being completed and why. The doctors explained everything to us and made sure that we were ok as well as our daughter. We especially felt we had a special bond with the nursery nurse midwife, when our daughter refused to eat she came in, she sat with us both and calmed us down while feeding our daughter. I was offered breast feeding advice and support from the midwives and the volunteers. From beginning to end we cannot fault anything and we would recommend stoke Mandeville hospital to any mummy's who are expecting.
