Having suddenly discovered a small lump in the centre of my shoulder blades, I saw my local GP who immediately arranged for it to be removed at our local medical centre. On the Thursday it was out and sent for biopsy, on the Monday the results came back showing it as a melanoma and my GP immediately referred for a two week wait appointment with local dermatology clinicians. My appointment was arranged for the following Monday where I visited OPD at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston. After a short wait in clinic I was seen by one of the consultant dermatologists, who gave me a thorough check over and explained my condition fully and the next step in my treatment. The following day (Tuesday) I received call inviting me to see the plastic surgery specialist in Leicester, which was arranged for two days later on Thursday. So now just have to wait for the next stage in treatment, which as explained will be further excision.
I cannot praise my present course of treatment more highly. GP, nursing and medical staff have been fantastic, as have the medical secretaries who have been so helpful and friendly. At a time when we her so much criticism I can only take this time to thank everyone involved - much appreciated and thanks to our lovely team in Pilgrim Hospital and Lincolnshire.
