"Inappropriately refused registration"

About: Scots Gap Medical Group

Having driven 9 miles in the rain, I was very disappointed that the practice refused to accept a registration form for my daughter because I did not have any proof of her address even though I am a registered patient and she lives at the same address.

She had not been told that proof of address was necessary when she collected the form.

I was told that this was a requirement that the NHS introduced in the last few years.

When I said I did not think that was the case I was directed to a leaflet about protecting NHS resources from fraud. which carried the logo for NHS North of Tyne and referenced Newcastle and North Tyneside Primary Care Trusts and Northumberland Care Trust.

All organisations that have not existed for many years.

The www.nhs.uk website clearly states here: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/gps/how-to-register-with-a-gp-practice/

"You should not be refused registration or appointments because you don’t have a proof of address or personal identification at hand. It is not considered a reasonable ground to refuse registration. This also applies if you are an asylum seeker, refugee, a homeless patient or an overseas visitor, whether lawfully in the UK or not."
