"At all times they gave 100%"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Gynaecology (Ward 13)

(as the patient),

I would like to thank all the nurses on the ward for their care and dedication  you have to forget your dignity if you are being treated here but at all times I was made to feel at ease and not to be embarrassed by the situation.Every day I had to undergo a painful procedure and every nurse who accompanied me showed compassion and understanding and was always helpful even if just a kind word or a  hand to hold this made such a difference.   I am not mentioning staff by name because everyone was kind and caring towards me.

One night I had a really painful time obviously there are less staff at night and a doctor was not available but still the nurses did their best to ease my pain while being stretched.  I must also mention the ward doctors who showed compassion and caring when doing the procedure every day I know that unfortunately  due to the workload this was sometimes later than they would have liked and often at the end of a shift but they’ve still took time to be compassionate and caring.  Unfortunately I was there for 3 weeks before my surgery and during that time I could see how busy the staff could be and also how trying some  patients could be but at all times they gave 100%.

While I was waiting for surgery they were always  cheery, encouraging  and reassuring and if anyone on the ward was having a bad day they were always there with a wee cuddle which was very appreciated.  Dr Allam had always told me that this was not a straight forward operation but I am so grateful to him for deciding that there was no other option because after suffering many years of pain and discomfort I know that after a long recuperation my life will be transformed.  I so appreciate that he was able to do the operation and be happy with the outcome and his dedication after the operation was so kind.  I would like to thank everyone from cleaning, catering and medical staff for looking after me with love and kindness
