"Husbands hospital admission"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as a relative),

My husband became acutely unwell last Wed with vomiting & pain I took him to ED dept where he was swiftly reviewed, assessed & diagnosed with a bowel obstruction.

He was transferred up to surgical receiving ward 4a where again he was immediately assessed & interventions initiated to make him more comfortable.

He became very ill & had very abnormal bloods however due to vigilance of both nursing & surgical staff he was monitored & treated rapidly for sepsis.

The past 9 days has been horrendous for him as he has been so unwell however the care & compassion shown to him & myself was outstanding .

Dear MaxMcL,

I am sorry to hear that your husband has been so unwell. I am pleased that he was seen swiftly in the Emergency Department and that our colleagues in the surgical unit were able to assess him immediately and make him more comfortable.

It is so very difficult for relatives when their loved ones are so unwell. I am pleased that the care and compassion shown to your husband has also been extended to you.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. Our team really appreciates it. I will share it with them at our morning huddle. If you would like it to go directly to the members of staff who looked after your husband please send your husband's name and date of birth to Claire.gilroy@nhs.net.

I hope your husband makes a speedy recovery.

Claire
