The first time we tried to visit was the weekend after Christmas I fell down the stairs at home and couldn't move or put any pressure on my foot.
I went onto the minor injuries website to see if they were open as I wasn't sure if they would be being the weekend. It said that they were so my husband took me there. On arrival the receptionist asked us what had happened and she booked us in. We only had about a 20 minute wait and we were called in to see a nurse, after she had examined my foot she said that it needed an x-rayed but their x-ray department was closed at the weekends and we needed to go to Addenbrookes! If this information was on the website we wouldn't have wasted ours or their time going there! And if we were given this information at the desk we would have gone straight to Addenbrookes.
The second time was last week. My daughter fell off her scooter just after school and couldn't barley move her arm, so we take a trip back to them. Yet again greeted by the receptionist asked what had happened and we explain. She told us that there is a 2 hour wait (which wasn't a problem) after sitting for about 30 minutes I overheard the receptionist telling another patient that wanted to book in that the x-ray department is closed! So I go to ask her if I heard her right and she said 'yes their x-ray department closes at 4:45'!
So yet again we leave and went to Addenbrookes. It was a complete waste of our time and if we had been given this information on arrival we wouldn't have booked in either times. Turns out that I had broken my ankle in 2 places and my daughter had possibly broken her scaphoid bone in her wrist. We chose to use the Minor injuries unit to reduce the heavy flow at Addenbrookes but turns out that they were the only ones that could help us.
"Been here twice.....never again!"
