One of our Paramedic crews today attended a St Luke's patient and used the Single Point of Access service for advice-
The crew spoke to a staff member of St Luke's on the phone who gave immediate support and advice and then requested that Dr Lee and Clinical Nurse Specialist Sophie from St Luke's attend the patient's house. They arrived extremely promptly and arranged for a bed at the Hospice to become available. The Paramedic crew then transferred the patient to the Hospice in the ambulance.
The Paramedics felt that all the staff they liaised with were exceptionally supportive and professional to themselves and the patient and family. They had a very positive experience using this service. Another very positive example of our shared working with St Luke's.
