I'm back from MK hospital after having spinal surgery. The whole experience was, whilst not pleasurable (is surgery ever pleasurable?) as good as it could have been. Starting with my admission where the overworked staff carefully worked their way through their checklists, through the MRI scan (arranged at very short notice and squeezed into an already full morning at the scanning unit), a discussion with the anaethetist about how she was planning to put me under and what I was likely to feel like afterwards, and a final discussion with the surgeon after the MRI scans came back. Then awakening after surgery with the attentive staff in the recovery room checking that my feet were still connected up and giving me medication for the pain. And finally the move to Ward 24 where my poor wife had been waiting for me for a couple of hours. I can't speak too highly of the nursing staff: professional, kind and attentive. The surgery was a complete success and my sciatic pain is gone. Thanks to everyone involved. You couldn't have been better.
"Absolutely brilliant!"
