I suffer from COPD and I have mobility issues. I use a wheeled zimmer to help me get about.
On my way back from the hairdressers I fell and landed on my left shoulder. An ambulance was called and I was taken to the RAH in paisley. When I got to A&E I was taken for an x-ray and they said I had dislocated my left shoulder. Three times I was put to sleep and "junior" doctors tried to put it back into place, after the 3rd attempt a senior doctor came to examine me and said I was to be x-rayed again! They then discovered my shoulder was shattered and the top part of my arm, fractured in 3 places also the cartilage was damaged! I was told that to fix this I would need an operation but this couldn't happen because of my COPD!
I was moved to the vale of leven hospital where I spent 4 weeks in the rehabilitation ward. My arm has never fully healed and I still struggle with day to day tasks and can't move my arm from above the elbow. I also struggle with daily pain.
