About: West Cumberland Hospital

My father was admitted again last Wednesday as he is stage 4 COPD he was on the assessment ward for a few days then was put into a overspill ward where he was promised he wouldn’t be moved again as every time he gets admitted to hospital he is constantly moved even waking him around 11pm to move him and he hardly sleeps as it is so once woken that’s him for the night this happens to him all the time he gets told by one doctor they are doing whatever then when he’s moved to another ward he sees another dr then gets told something else nothing is consistent but this time he was moved to the old part of the hospital to a ward that is never used none of the TVs work so boardham sets in the TVs need sorted out plus he was told because his heart rate was irratic that he may be going into icu then drs came the next morning and said he could go home no one at any time came to tell him his heart rate was getting better so we’re all worrying that he could have a heart attack when his heart had settled the communication in this hospital is utterly appalling the nurses very rarely came in to see if he wanted a cup of tea

He also wanted to go to the day room to watch the football the nurse said it was fine so he went only to keep getting pestered by other nurses as to why he was in there so he went back to his room and found out that they wanted to move him AGAIN when it’s on his paperwork that he wasn’t to be moved again the quality of care in this hospital is disgusting I know there are lack of funds in the nhs but funds shouldn’t come into account with the care given .

Every time he is in he is treated appallingly he was discharged today 26th March 19 with swollen legs and stomach and they said it was down to not moving about enough now he hardly moves about because of his COPD so that is nonsense there are so many things I would like to complain about only when we asked the nurses for a complaint form we were told they don’t have them I want to make an official complaint because his treatment in West Cumberland has been shocking .

Thank you for leaving your feedback.

I am sorry to hear about your father's experience at West Cumberland Hospital.

I would advise that you contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) regarding this as I have no contact details for you to pass on to them.

The email address is PALSCIC@ncuh.nhs.uk or you can contact them by telephone (01228) 814008.

Thank you.
