I recently received an appointment for a routine follow up MRI scan at the QEUH in Glasgow. Unfortunately, the allocated date did not suit me as I was working on the day of the appointment. I phoned the number detailed on the letter and informed the clerical staff that the date was unsuitable. I was informed quite abruptly that my appointment would be cancelled and another date be sent in due course. I was informed that if I phone to re-schedule again that this would be treated as a cancellation and I would not be given any further appointments. I am disappointed that the booking process is so inflexible, and also that imaging may be cancelled even if I provide sufficient notice that I cannot attend due to work commitments. I would have been less bothered if the staff member I spoke to had displayed a more understanding manner, as opposed to sounding like they couldn't wait for me to get off the phone.
