I would like to pass on my thanks for the care my father in law received whilst in Dr Gray's.
He was initially in ACE unit, then Ward 8 HDU and latterly Ward 6 where he ultimately passed away.
During this time he was under the care of Dr Henderson and her team. Communication between herself and the family was timely, open, honest and compassionate. Within ACE unit we felt there was an issue with the lay out of the ward. On several occasions either a family member or another patient's family member had to alert a member of staff that my father in law was in distress - he was unable to use his buzzer. It was obvious that the ward was short staffed. Regardless the staff were as caring as time allowed.
Once he was deemed to be end of life he was transferred to a side room in Ward 6. The staff there were very caring both to my father in law and the visiting family.
I work within a hospital at times myself, and it was a different, but positive, experience to be on the receiving end of services.
