Dear all staff in Ward 23,
I just want to take the time to say a thank you to the Kelsie who was looking after my mother during the last week of her life. She was admitted to Ward 23 with a failed stent from Edinburgh. On her second day on the ward, my mother experienced severe chest pain and Kelsie was first on the scene despite the fact there was another medical emergency on the floor. She quickly did a heart tracing of my mother and gave her 2 sprays of her gtn as well as informed a doctor. This happened a few times after. I can’t thank her enough for her care for she even stayed way beyond her finishing time to make sure that my mother remained comfortable before going off shift and contacted for her to be reviewed by the nightshift Doctor.
I saw Kelsie the day after at costa despite her not being at work where she took the time to ask us how my mother was doing despite the fact we knew my mother’s prognosis wasn’t good. I appreciated the fact she took the time to ask. When she was next on shift, my mother had been put on a syringe driver. Kelsie was very attentive to our needs and offered reassurance to us during the hard time in our lives. She spoke to my mother as if she was still very much alert and orientated which was refreshing to see. She also did more than just did her regular checks and attended to not only my mothers needs also ours.
I can’t thank you enough for your kindness and compassion but I will apologise for only managing to write a comment now but I am sure that you can understand given this difficult time in our lives.
Thank you to the other staff too, you’re all doing a good job.
"Kindness and compassion"
