"Wouldn’t go back"

About: North Manchester General Hospital / Breast surgery

Well my partner had his surgery here yesterday he is autistic and it was overwhelming for him to be alone in a hospital that was out of his city. Anyway the surgeon and the team were brilliant couldn’t fault them, she got him a side room but the care my partner got after his surgery was absolutely terrible. No one checked on him, nursers done obs every few hours. Low blood pressure but nothing was done about it. He was told he could stay tonight by his surgeon if he wanted to and he did want to stay but then got told to go home by the ward sister. Not knowing what was going on he was escorted out his room to a waiting area ready for somebody to pick him up, all this within less than 24 hours after his major surgery. My partner and his dad Organised another night stay with his surgeon because his dad couldn’t take him home until Sunday. Anyway the whole experience after the surgery was traumatic for him and I’m now having to still calm him down at this minute. You wouldn’t ever want anyone to ever be treated like that never mind my autistic partner!!

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. I was sorry to learn of your partners unsatisfactory experience within the hospital. I hope I can assure you that the staff strive to provide patients with excellent care and experience, so I am disappointed that we had not achieved it for your partner on this occasion. Please accept my apology for the distress this may have caused.

Should you or your partner remain dissatisfied and wish to discuss your experience further, please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at your earliest opportunity on telephone 0161 604 5897, or email pals@pat.nhs.uk quoting that you have been advised to do so via this website, and they will do their best to address your concerns.
