"Compassionate care and kept well informed"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cardiothoracic (Heart and Lung) Ward Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Critical Care Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Theatres

(as a relative),

My husband was in recently for a cardiac operation and suffered complications. The medical and nursing staff in ward 216, theatres,ICU, HDU ,(both cardiac and general) were superb.

Throughout it all ,as a family, we were kept fully informed and updated on his condition and progress. Nothing was too much trouble and with open visiting we could come and go without ever feeling in the way. The staff treated us compassionately which was much appreciated.

He has a long road to full recovery but without all of them it could have been very different. Our NHS staff need to be told that they ALL make a difference.

Thank you.

Dear Gratefulwifie

Thank you so much for getting in touch. I am very glad to read that your experiences of our Cardio-thoracic ward, Theatre, Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit was positive through what must have been a very worrying time for you and your family.

I will ensure that the staff in all of these areas are informed of this feedback. I am sure they will be delighted to hear that their care and compassion was supportive to you all and that you felt well informed and cared for.

I do hope that your husband is recovering well at home.

Kind regards

Catriona
