"Great communication skills"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Oesophageal Lab

(as a service user),

I have attended the oesophageal lab on a number of occasions and visited again recently. I was met by Michelle, health care practitioner who introduced herself and welcomed me to the department. Even though I had attended before (previously with Michelle's mentor, Maureen) Michelle took great time to explain my tests and the procedure in full and also used some visual aids. She was professional at all times, has great communication skills and certainly put me at ease.

Michelle was very accommodating by making me return appointment slightly later which meant I had less time away from my duties, I am a nurse.

She explained the analysis and reporting procedure and although tests were not very pleasant, she made my experience positive due to her professionalism not to mention her sunny disposition and sense of humour.

She is a credit to NHS Lanarkshire. Thank you.

Dear M J

Thanks so much for posting such positive comments about Michelle and your experience. It's always a bit daunting to attend for tests and procedures, even if you do work in the NHS, and you've been before.

I will make sure your kind comments are shared with Michelle. I'm sure she will be delighted she made your experience better by her care.

Thanks

Susan
