"111 referral to A&E at Rotherham Hospital"

About: The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust

I contacted the 111 helpline regarding my 2 year old daughter who had a fever, stomach pains, loss of appetite, and dehydration. Within an hour I had spoken to a GP who advised me to attend A&E to rule out any kidney problems.

On arrival at the "urgent & emergency care" department at Rotherham we were politely greeted at the reception and asked to briefly explain why we were there.

There was no queue and the service was really efficient.

We were directed to the paediatric waiting area where we were waiting less than 10 minutes to be assessed.

We then saw the doctor who, on examining my little girl, immediately identified that she was suffering from tonsillitis.

Medication was swiftly prescribed and then we were on our way.

We left the hospital in under an hour.

Extremely grateful for such an easy experience as taking a 2 year old to A&E was a bit daunting.

Just wanted to pass on my thanks to everyone we interacted with today...excellent from start to finish.
