After previously having 2 good experiences at Watford General delivering my daughters in 2012 & 2015 it was a no brainier I was happy to have my 3rd baby here.
After a plain sailing pregnancy I was hoping to have my 1st experience of a water birth. My body had other plans.
I arrived at the hospital in quite a panic on my due date after my waters breaking at home. Instead of leaking water I was bleeding.
The midwife took one look at me and wasted no time in getting me in to a room on the delivery suite.
It was all abit of a panic as it soon came to light I had a placenta abruption. I was induced and baby was very closely monitored throughout. I was advised that at any point myself or baby was not coping I would be taken to theatre for a c section which was just next door.
Every Midwife/Dr that I came in to contact that day made me feel so safe and actually quite relaxed considering it was a very high risk and tense labour. My wonderful midwife & Dr kept me strong positive and motivated which helped and encouraged me to be able to deliver baby myself with the help of forceps.
I had lots of medical staff around should baby need any support which thank god she didn't.
I honestly can’t thank Watford General Midwifery team & Drs for getting me through such a traumatic labour.
It’s only when I looked back a few days later I saw all the precautions that had been put in place without me noticing so they were there without causing me any extra panic.
Thank you all so so much. You guys are all amazing!
