I recently had a TURP at Treliske (due to a benign enlarged prostate) and wish to say how hugely impressed I was as the quality of the care that I received. I had a number of anxieties about the operation and the extent of my recovery, not least because I had been catheterised for about six months.
However, the procedure was clearly explained to me, both before and after surgery, and I was left with a positive feeling about the days that would follow. The post-operative care was exemplary, being both sympathetic and encouraging. Unfortunately, due to the time I had been catheterised, I had some residual infection and was unable to leave the hospital as early as I would have liked. Nonetheless, I was always kept well-informed about my circumstances and my treatment, and felt that my best interests were always a priority. Subsequently, I have made a full recovery and feel better, physically and mentally, than I have for a very long time. I have nothing but praise for the whole team on Surgical Admissions, and would wish to reassure anybody awaiting a TURP that they should feel confident about the quality of the treatment that they will receive, and their longer-term recovery.
"Hugely impressed with the quality of care"
