I was out on a walk in the area around Great Bedwyn and Little Bedwyn with the my walking group. When walking up a hill I became breathless and then dizzy. Next, I am told, I collapsed and became unconscious. Some members of the Group tried to revive me while others called for an ambulance and waited to guide the members of the ambulance to where I had collapsed, which was on a track inaccessible to a road vehicle. In a very short time the ambulance crew, Tammy, Joe, and Bruce arrived having pushed the stretcher, with the assistance of some Members of the Group over some very rough ground. The emergency helicopter had already been alerted and was overhead but unable to land due to the area being wooded. The Team went through all the emergency procedures, including asking me questions to establish my mental condition. The stretcher ride back to the road was hard for the Team and bumpy for me but that was unavoidable. Having reached the ambulance the remainder of the rescue was plain sailing in comparison to the earlier problems and I was delivered safely to the Great Western Hospital, Swindon.
The members of my walking group followed by Tammy, Joe, and Bruce, the ambulance crew, could not have done more, and I have no doubt that I owe my life to their efforts.
