"Long wait in waiting room with chest pain"

About: Friarage Hospital Site / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Felt very unwell, and phoned out of hours GP who wanted to call an ambulance but I didn't want to be any trouble. They insisted that I just go to A&E myself. Arrived at A&E and saw triage fairly quickly but was so poorly that I had trouble telling the nurse what the problem was, but I did explain about the chest pain and generally feeling unwell but wasn't able to remember my medication.

Sent back out and told that the out of hours GP would see me.  Waited 3 hours feeling more and more poorly, and felt too ill to be there so told this to the receptionist that I was going as felt too ill and suddenly seen by triage again.

Was then told off for not explaining myself properly - I was too ill and also for not having anyone with me.

Things were all clear, however things could have been very different.
