"Very mixed quality of staff"

About: Dorset County Hospital

The day time nursing staff were very sloppy. My husband who had to use a commode frequently in a side room was largely ignored by the nursing staff and had great difficulty getting anyone to empty the commode. They showed their disgust at having to do this job by screwing up their noses and when he did get someone to do it twice they spilt urine and poo over the floor. They did a poor job of cleaning up the mess and he had to finish the job himself using wet wipes.

30 hours after admission he had still not been able to wash. He was given towels but the bowl of water never appeared despite asking more than once. The bell was never answered!

The night staff in contrast were very attentive and spent time making sure he had what he needed.
