"Me, fainting whilst riding into work..."

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a service user),

On my way to work I suddenly felt unwell and before I could safely stop I fainted over the front of the motorcycle and free-wheeled into a grass area adjacent to the road.   I woke to see someone asking me if I was OK with me in a heap on the floor.   Although there was an extended delay of the arrival of the ambulance the staff who did arrive were polite and reassuring.   It was clear that they were overworked and being faced with issues beyond their control.   For example the situation at the hospital where the ambulances were queuing.   Despite the obvious difficulties I felt I was treated with care, compassion and respect - thank you.

Dear Carl,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story and I hope you are recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are delivering care and support to patients and those around them when they need it most.

We would be happy to share your story with the ambulance staff involved in this instance, however, to do so we will need some specific information. If you would like us to do this, please may I ask you to contact us on either plaudits@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 261 534 and a member of the Patient Engagement Team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Kind regards,

Sharifa
