I was.an in patient on Howard Ward from 9th January 2019 until today. Up until Friday the care and treatment were exemplary. However at 7.10 am I suffered a fall and landed on the stump of my below right knee amputation. I also very bay hurt my back which I reported. No doctor was called to assess any potential injury. I continued to suffer pain and eventually a doctor came to see me yesterday to inform.me an x-ray would be carried out today. This morning after x-ray I was told I had suffered a wedge fracture to the lower vertebrae. The doctors, knowing this stil.deemed me fit for discharge even though they knew I live in a 2nd floor flat witj no lift. 2 crews tried to carry me up the stairs but the pain was indescribable. They contacted Bedford Hospital but were informed that I could not.be returned and I should be dropped at A&E at the L&D where I now am awaiting to see if any further damage has been done. 95% of the staff are incredible and thanks to them. Indeed 3 or 4 thought it ridicu
lous that I was discharged. The other 5% should be ashamed. I may even have to spend the.night in my wheelchair out in the cold air as nowhere is suitable for me.
