"A big thank you to NHS 24 for being there for me"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as the patient),

Due to failure of my surgery to supply my prescription requested to my local pharmacy. Family member called to pick it up but was informed that there was no prescription sent from surgery. As this was a new medication prescribed after my pacemaker op I was due to complete supply by the following Saturday. Surgery were aware of this. Pharmacy requested I call NHs 24. This I did and I wish to compliment all persons  concerned from medical aid, pharmacist and out of hours Dr who contacted my local pharmacy with prescription of meds for one week.   It was a stressful Saturday for me. Again a big thank you to NHS 24 for being there for me.   πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ’ŠπŸ‘

Thank you so much for sharing your experience of NHS 24 on Care Opinion. I was sorry to learn that you recently underwent surgery and I do wish you well. Obtaining your required medication does sound stressful, however I am pleased we were able to assist.

It may be helpful to explain that, should you find yourself in a similar situation in the future, Pharmacists can provide a supply of most medications, provided you have evidence of the type of medication and dosage required. For example, if you were able to take along a previously used bottle or box with the label attached. I know this may not always be possible, but worth knowing for any future similar situations. However, in any event, in this instance, I am pleased that NHS 24 and the Out of Hours GP were able to assist.

Thanks again for getting in touch and I do hope that you feel better following your surgery.

Take care

Shona
