I had an accident on 05/12/18 when I fell off a stile while out walking.By the morning of 06/12/18 the pain was pretty well unbearable. My wife called an ambulance and I was taken to Pinderfields A&E department. The Doctor I saw took a lot of trouble to ascertain the extent of my injuries. She first sent for an x-ray and followed it up with a scan. I was diagnosed with 7 broken ribs and a small pneumothorax. The Doctor consulted with a specialist in Leeds and it was decided I should be admitted to Pinderfields because of the pneumothorax and my age (76). I spent my first 2 days on oxygen and then a further 4 days in hospital. The treatment I received was mainly pain management.
I am indebted to the A&E doctor for the extent she went to to sort me out.
The only slight criticism I have is about the discharge proceedure. After being told by the specialist I could go home on his morning round it was mid afternoon before the junior doctor signed the form for me to go.
