"Pain Clinic RCHT"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

(as the patient),

Started attending the pain clinic on a regular basis. same day, same time every week. As well as being given an appointment card which is completed each visit, I also get a text reminder each week. I am very concerned that I also receive an appointment letter in the post each week. This must be costing the trust so much money if this is happening to everyone. I don't know who to contact to say I don't need the postal reminder.

The pain clinic is brilliant and I cant believe how under-used it seems to be. I rarely see another patient there when I attend. Most of the treatments offered   could potentially save the trust a great deal of money if the patients then needed less or no medication.  I have been in pain for 9 years after a neurological illness and was only told about the pain clinic last summer. Then had to wait until January this year for treatment.   If the treatment works I could have saved 9 years of pain.

Dear Surprise

Thank you for sharing your positive experience of the Pain Clinic at Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust. My name is Michaela and I am part of the Patient and Family Experience Team here at RCHT.

I am delighted to read how brilliant you feel the pain clinic is and the fact that the treatment that the team have provided could potentially save you from the pain you have endured for the last 9 years. I really hope that this is the case for you. I will of course be sharing your feedback with the Pain Clinic Manager and ask that she shares with the rest of the team.

You mention the appointment letters you receive, even though you attend on the same day, same time every week and have an appointment card. I would advise that the next time you attend an appointment with them to discuss this further as they should be able to ensure that you no longer receive a letter also as this is not required.

Thank you again for sharing your experience and I hope that the treatment you receive has a positive impact on your pain.

With kind regards

Michaela Brewer, Patient Experience Coordinator
