I had a day surgery last week. I think that staff in theatre and in recovery were very nice and very patient orientated. But I felt the staff in Ward 12 (blue ward) were completely different. There ward was not very busy, there was only three of us and I could constantly hear staff joking, farting and laughing lots. This I feel is not professional and actually disgusting. Two nurses who attended to me were totally task orientated and did not pay much attentions to what I was saying or what I was asking. On discharge the nurse read all the after care information from the leaflet and took me out the ward to my partner to take me home. They also gave me supply of painkillers only for 4 days and no prescription, which I had not realised. Then when its came to the Monday I ran out of painkillers and the it was a challenge to get anything from GP or chemist as its usually 72 hours before prescription gets done. When I phoned to day surgery nobody could do anything for me as I already been discharged.
