So unfortunately I had to visit A & E last night and after a 5 and a half hour wait I was admitted. The wait in the waiting room was exacerbated by 2 groups of people: 1) The people who should not have been there. I think they could quite easily have seen their GP the next day instead of clogging up an acutely underfunded and busy A & E, which by the way is called Accident & emergency for a reason!
2) This group of people felt the need for a family outing! So much so that we counted at least 2 families of patient and 4/5 family members and at one point a nurse asked all non-patients to all stand up in order for actual patients to be able to sit down!
The real reason for this post is to thank very sincerely all the medical staff in the A& E Department and then up on the STU Department for their care, help and professionalism. They all work under a great financial and staffing strain, but do not compromise on their care.
Thank you one and all!
I do not usually write anything like this, but it was a night of 2 halves!
The first feeling so angry at certain people and then the second half a feeling of awe and appreciation at our FANTASTIC NHS Staff!
"It was a night of 2 halves"
