My husband had an appointment at the haematology clinic at hairmyres outpatient department. After seeing the doctor he was sent to the blood room to have his bloods done. This has never bothered him before until now.
He was took in by a nurse who tried to get the bloods, but was unsuccessful the first time and tried a second time. My husband said that it was painful. They shouted for someone else to help and kept pressing on my husbands arm with cotton wool. On removing the cotton wool, his arm became badly swollen and this nurse didn’t even apologise at what they had done. Just commented and laughed and said they've never done that before.
He has been left with pain and swelling since. I think this nurse needs to be sent for more training and to watch how to speak to patients. He is still attending our GP for the swelling which doesn’t seem to be going down. He will not forget this in a hurry.
