"Core biopsy went well, but left in the dark..."

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

I had a core biopsy, after my GP referred me, as she thought I may have cancer.

I was given the appointment very quickly.

The nurses involved were lovely....and I was treated very well.

I have no problem in recommending Pinderfields at all, as they try their best in difficult and busy situations.

My problem however is aftercare. I had stitches after the core biopsy, but I wasnt told whether they dissolve or if I have to get them removed.

Also... I was given steroid cream to apply, but the pharmacist said that the consultant hadn't written any detail regarding use. So, I am left wondering if I am meant to use the cream for just for a few days, or to keep using it.

It has now been over 3 weeks since I was at hospital.

Last week I got a letter saying that I dont have cancer or Pagets, which is great, but the letter didnt have any follow up advice. Am I meant to see my GP again? (Baring in mind it takes 3/4 weeks to be seen)

Everything has come to a very abrupt end.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience.

I am pleased to read that your treatment, during your biopsy, was positive and that staff providing you with the support you needed.

However, I am a little disappointed to read about the lack of aftercare and in particular, the lack of communication you have received.

I would suggest you contacting your GP for some advice regarding follow-up.

However, our PALS team may be able to help as well.

Given that this is a public website, it would be inappropriate for me to ask for your personal details.

Therefore, if you would like our PALS team to try and help then please contact them on myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.net.

Thank you again.

Kind regards
