"Wasted hours and frustration"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

(as a service user),

A day at Medway Hospital

Set off at 10 am for an 11 am appointment, good journey reaching the hospital around 10.30. Joined the queue for the car park so helping to block others who did not want the car park, including buses.

Half an hour later found a parking space and arrived at Out Patients Area 2 just on time! Board said doctor running on time (hooray).

Thirty 30 minutes later called in to see doctor, consultation lasted about 15 minutes resulting in a decision to alter medication😢😢😢😢which meant a visit to the hospital pharmacy. Now that is not funny from previous experience the service is diabolical.

On presenting the prescription the response from the receptionist was unclear. Further questioning elicited the response that the waiting time was 45 minutes. Decided to get a drink, returning at the suggested time. No indicator to show if the prescription was ready and had to wait at a window until someone deigned to appear only to be told it was not ready and would be another 10 minutes. 25 minutes, name called. Now 1.15 pm.

Arrived home around 2 pm.

All this with a disabled patient in a wheelchair.
