"Orthopedics"

About: Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

Before Christmas I visited orthopaedics and saw a colleague of my consultant regarding my knee. He advised me I had not had my knees xrayed for a couple of years and he would arrange to call me back again for X-rays and possible steroid injection. I returned to the hospital for this further appointment yesterday having arranged a lift as advised for the steroid injection. Unfortunately this time I saw my actual consultant who saw me for no more than 5 minutes never examined my knees or gait and was looking at X-rays from a couple of years ago. He didn't give me a steroid and made no mention of the X-rays. I basically feel

He fobs me off each time and doesn't help me. I am not trying to rush into a knee replacement but am totally dissatisfied with how I am being treated. This is not the first occasion this has happened with this consultant and I no longer have faith in him. Not to mention the wasted afternoon off work for a 5 minute appt!!

Good Morning

We are really sorry you have had cause to raise concerns regarding the care you have received. I am sorry for not responding to this before now.

We take patient concerns very seriously and we can only improve if we know what is going wrong from a patient’s perspective. The PALS & Complaints Team can assist and support patients with issues such as these, requesting a second opinion from another Consultant if you felt this may be helpful. However to do this, we will need your name and some personal details to identify you.

Please contact us directly on 0161 922 4466 or email palsandcomplaints@tgh.nhs.uk, otherwise this will be shared with the appropriate manager for their awareness.

Thank you
