About: University Hospital Monklands / Clinical Haematology (Ward 16)

(as a service user),

I Attended Ward 16 Day Hospital Haematology at Monklands Hospital in Jan 2019 for a bone marrow sample to be taken.  Nurse Jane who carried out the procedure was very competent and explained the procedure thoroughly.  She explained the procedure every step of the way and was very reassuring during the process.  Some discomfort during the procedure but this was bearable.  Staff ensured i had no swelling or bleeding before i was allowed to leave and cup of coffee and biscuit was much appreciated. This was followed up by a phone call from Jane to ensure there was no further after effects or bleeding from the site.  I feel that the care i received was brilliant.  Staff very caring and made me feel at ease.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience when having the bone marrow sample taken. I am pleased to hear that Jane made you feel at ease during the proceedure and kept you informed at each step. It is difficult to undertake this type of proceedure without some discomfort therefore trying to reassure patients and make them feel as relaxed as possible is alway the ultimate goal.

I know that Jane works very hard to try and make the experience the best it can be under the circumstances and following up to ensure there are no after effects is always reassuring.

I will pass your kind words of graditute to Jane and know she will be pleased to get such positive feedback.
