"Total hip replacement"

Arrived in hospital on the 1st Dec after cycling accident was taken into A&E in short place of time. Seen by doctor and given pain block in the groin to control pain taken for Xray which confirmed broken hip. Then admitted to ward 33 and settled by staff.

Seen next day by consultant who said no operation on hip until the road rash had heeld could be 2 weeks. On the 4th day I was taken to theatre and the consulted washed and cleaned the wound anaesthetic. After 7 day of not being able to get out of bed the dressing was removed and the wound had healed. All the time in bed I was treated with total dignity by supreme during staff and my spirits kept up by every other member of staff that spoke to me. I finally got my hip operation 2 days later performed in the state of the art theatres by a super team of professionals. Within 4 days I was walking with sticks leaving hospital in total 13 days in the Memorial, in all of that time the staff were absolutely superb. I can honestly say that the people of Darlington and the surrounding area can be truly privileged to have this facility at their disposal.
