"Skilled doctors, surgeon and nurses"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cardiology / Coronary Care Unit Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cardiothoracic (Heart and Lung) Ward Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Respiratory Medicine (Breathing and Lung Problems)

(as the patient),

I went down with what I thought was flu at the beginning of March. Went back and forth to my GP and had various tests and scans before being taken into ARI in early May with pneumonia.

I suffered total respiratory failure twice during May (I'm sorry that I cannot remember the dates) before having the Mitral valve in my heart replaced at the end of May followed by 6 weeks of intravenous antibiotics at 4 hour intervals.

The care and attention that I received was exemplary and it's only thanks to the skill of the doctors, surgeon and nurses that I am able to celebrate Christmas with my family.

Dear Bobl

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience. It indeed sounds like you had a really difficult time with your health but so pleased to read that the teams that cared for you did so with skill and provided exemplary care.

I will share your kind words with the teams involved in your care, they will be delighted that you are now better and able to celebrate Christmas with your family.

With best wishes

Have a lovely Christmas and enjoy the festivities

Kind regards

Fiona Robertson

Chief Nurse
