"The only treatment option available is to go to A&E"

About: GPs Blackburn With Darwen Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust / Contraception and sexual health services

(as other),

I have symptoms that I believe could be an STI. I tried to get an appointment with a GUM and was told I needed a GP referral. I called the GP surgery 4 times. Every time there was a recording saying to telephone again after 11 o’clock irrespective of whether of what time in the afternoon or evening I called. I had to take time off work to physically attend the surgery and finally got an appointment 11 days after I first started with symptoms; these include it being painful when I pee and sore around the tip of my penis. I finally got to see a GP who gave me a Preston CaSH booking number.

I called the CaSH number at 1pm today just to get a recorded message saying to call between 9-5 on a weekday. At the end of the recording CaSH terminated the call. The only treatment option available is to go to A&E. I am now sat in A&E waiting to be triaged. I feel like the system simply does not work any more!
