Patient had a gall bladder removed over a year ago. Following the operation they experienced a rash on the torso. Was meant to be in hospital for one day for the operation but they insisted on them staying in for five days with no explanation as to why the inpatient stay was five days. Went to the dermatology unit where the rash was treated. Staff said it was something connected to the anaesthetic used which had caused the rash. They were prescribed three different creams and referred to their GP. Thinks care at Treliske could be improved. Care for the rash was poor and at the time of the operation the patient felt they were treated differently to other patients and felt alienated. Treatment by the dermatologist was fine but feels the hospital should try and communicate more with its patients.
"Extended stay due to anaesthetic causing a rash"
