"Maternity care"

We received reasonably good care throughout the pregnancy following the standard schedule of visits and appointments. Towards the end, at approx 36 weeks, we realised that the baby is in breech position and we were offered ECV procedure, which we tried twice, unfortunately unsuccessfully. Even though we really wanted to have a natural birth we had to choose an elective c-section.

The doctor offered an additional attempt of an ECV with anaesthetic on the day of planned c-section, as they wanted to give us an option to deliver the little one naturally. Unfortunately on the day of the procedure it turned out that ECV didn't work (due to shape of the womb) and we ended up with C-section anyways.

We had an excellent care since we were referred to obstetrician. The doctors and nurses were very professional, caring and kept our spirits up throughout the treatment. On the day of c-section, they kept us informed, and really tried to accommodate our will to have a natural birth. The operation itself went smoothly and the aftercare was also exceptional. And we were able to leave the hospital on the following day as a happy family.

The midwifery team was also really helpful in the post-natal care, and gave us a lot of guidance on caring for our newborn, which was very new to us. Although we initially regretted leaving the hospital after just one day due to subsequent problems with breastfeeding, we had breastfeeding experts visiting us at home at short notice and never failing to return a call.

Of course, there were a few issues here and there (e.g lost blood and urine samples), and sometimes receiving inconsistent information, the only major point worth raising is that we would have expected that the shape of the womb shape should have probably been captured earlier so that we could have adjusted the birth plan accordingly. Overall, however, especially from week 36, we can't be complimentary enough about the efforts that were made and the care we received.
