Got to be the most disorganised dept in the hospital, no wonder they struggle finding beds on this ward. The standard of care from doctors is dreadful, if you can find one that is. I feel sorry for nursing staff doing the work looking after patients with little instruction from "consultants" who don't even see patients.

Dear changing hospital

I am very sorry to hear of your disappointing experience in relation to your hospital care recently and specifically your perception that Consultant input was lacking, that you felt ignored and that the ward appeared disorganised.

I can confirm that each week Monday - Friday a Consultant Gastroenterologist is assigned to the ward and attends the morning multidisciplinary meeting at 0900. This allows an overview of all 32 patients on the ward with a shared discussion between medical, nursing and allied healthcare staff to agree a management plan for each patient each day. Following this the consultant will undertake a review of all patients under their care supported by junior medical staff. Whilst a consultant may be called away from the ward to an emergency elsewhere within the hospital they are otherwise available every weekday to discuss patient's and family's concerns.
