"Our NHS is worth its weight in gold"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I have recently undergone surgery in Raigmore Hospital Inverness and had a hysterectomy after suffering with issues for years. I was very anxious going into hospital but the staff on Ward 9B were excellent and the care and treatment I received was very professional yet personalised.

The theatre staff are a lovely team, very friendly and reassuring at a very anxious time, they have a skill at distracting patients from their anxieties and made the experience less daunting at the time when it was needed most.

I cannot emphasize my gratitude enough for the Consultant Dr Alsharaydeh, the follow up care was exceptional, I was reviewed very quickly following developing an infection and every time I contacted Dr Alsharaydeh with a query in relation to my recovery or for advice I received a prompt reply and felt reassured that I would be reviewed further if it was required. I can honestly say I don't think I could have received any better care anywhere else!

For a Hospital that is continually under pressure to deliver on Scottish Government targets and a covering a fast growing demographic area the demand on service has never been greater so to continue to deliver this high standard of care has to be commended and celebrated with the staff involved.

All too often the negative press would have you believe that our NHS is useless when in fact it is worth its weight in gold and we should be very appreciative of the exceptional service that is delivered.
